UEFA Champions League Final To Be Shown In VR

If you want to talk about big events that could draw more attention to VR technology, the UEFA Champions League football (sorry, sorry, soccer) final sounds like as good an opportunity as any.
This season’s final, which takes place on June 3rd, is going to be shown in VR. BT Sport will be capturing the entire match at Csrdiff’s Millennium Stadium, in which Juventus will take on Real Madrid, in 360 degrees, allowing fans that didn’t manage to grab a ticket to still get at least a taste of what it would have been like to actually be there.

The match will be available free to everyone; you won’t have to be a BT Sport subscriber to get involved. It will be posted up on YouTube as well as BT’s app and website, where you’ll be able to switch between different camera angles to get the best view.
Of course, you’ll also be able to watch the match inside a VR headset. Just load the video on a compatible smartphone, press the headset icon, insert it into a mobile VR headset and you’ll be good to go. That said you’ll probably need an excellent internet connection and a well-charged phone to watch the entire 90 minutes and more in VR. It might be a good idea to get a neck brace too.
