When it comes to recognisable providers of location-based virtual reality (VR), The VOID has quickly become one of the biggest names, having secured the rights to produce licensed VR experiences for franchises such as Ghostbusters and Star Wars. The company is now branching out into its own original IP with a VR experience titled Nicodemus: Demon of Evanishment.
The VOID has teamed up with developer Ninja Theory to create an original VR experience which is set in the summer of 1893 during the famous Chicago World’s Fair.
The story of Nicodemus: Demon of Evanishment involves a demonstration of something called Electro-Spiritualism, which managed to bring something terrible into the world, causing tragedy only a few short days before the closing of the fair.
Rumours begin to spread that a strange creature is luring people to a place called the ‘Evanishment Room’, a place from which the never return. As word threatens to get out, the authorities quietly close the fair and shutter all the attractions. However, the workmen refused to touch the exhibits, leaving the exhibition hall abandoned. Sightings of strange things from the derelict site continued, however, with witnesses reporting strange lights coming from the abandoned exhibit hall.
The VOID experience brings visitors back to that night over one hundred and fifty years ago to the decaying site of the Chicago World’s Fair. Participants will be able to join a group of four and choose from one of six available VR avatars in order to explore the environment of the derelict ruin. Players will need to explore the abandoned exhibits and discover the truth, while avoiding being caught by the demon known as Nicodemus.
Nicodemus: Demon of Evanishment will be making its debut at The VOID location in Grand Canal Shoppes in The Venetian in Las Vegas. Further information and tickets can be found on the Official The VOID website.
The trailer for the experience is available to view below. For coverage of other new and upcoming VR projects, keep checking back with VRFocus.
