nDreams has today announced the price and release date of the forthcoming The Assembly. Though built for virtual reality (VR), with launches planned for the Oculus Rift, HTC Vive and PlayStation VR, the developer has also confirmed that a non-VR version of The Assembly will be made available for PC.
The Assembly is an interactive story in first-person VR centred around the cloak-and-dagger activities of an underground collective. The player will take on the roles of two different characters as they attempt to discover what secrets the group are hiding, facing different opposition in each role. VRFocus recently got hands-on with The Assembly, stating in a preview: “The narrative that has been worked on primarily by the developers is unnerving yet enticing, the characters are easy to understand and get behind.”
The Assembly will be released on PC for Oculus Rift and HTC Vive on Tuesday 19th July 2016, priced at $29.99 USD / €24.99 EUR/ £19.99 GBP, with the PlayStation VR version set to arrive later this year. Players of The Assembly will also be able to switch to a non-VR mode, which features a reworked UI designed to be played on a monitor.
A non-VR version of The Assembly will also be released alongside the VR version and will be available to purchase for PC via Steam priced at $19.99 / €19.99 / £14.99. This edition of the videogame will offer purchasers the option to upgrade to VR at any time in order to experience The Assembly as originally intended.
There is currently no confirmation as to whether the non-VR version of the videogame will launch on consoles, though VRFocus will keep you updated with all the latest details.
