Lenovo And Google’s VR180 Camera Goes Up For Pre-Order

Lenovo and Google’s standalone Daydream headset, the Mirage Solo, has been available to pre-order for about a week now, and now you can grab the other half of the pair’s VR offerings, too.
The Mirage VR camera, which was introduced alongside the Solo at CES 2018, can now be pre-ordered for $299 on Amazon. The device is one of the first to carry Google’s new VR180 label. That means it can capture a full 180 degrees in stereoscopic 3D, though isn’t able to take 360 degree images and video. The tradeoff is the most affordable price compared to many 360 cameras and a much more traditional and accessible form factor that the pair no doubt hope will get more people shooting VR content.
Coming in around the size of a wallet and weighing just 139 grams, the Mirage Camera uses two wide angle, 13 megapixel sensors to capture content. It’s fully integrated with YouTube so you can quickly share content, with livestreaming capabilities also built in via a Wi-Fi connection. An upcoming VR180 app that connects to the camera will also allow you to preview content on your smartphone screen.
The kit comes with 16GB of internal storage though support up to 128GB micoSD cards.
Daydream integration means you’ll be able to view your content inside the View headset as well as the new Mirage Solo, which is expected to roll out in the US in May. Can Lenovo and Google bring VR to a mainstream audience with these new products?
