Arriving just in time for the spookiest season of the year is Grave VR from Broken Window Studios. The horror title has now launched on Steam for the HTC Vive head-mounted display (HMD).
A surreal single-player experience, in Grave VR light is your only friend against what lurks in the darkness. Set in a barren and desolate desert, during the day players need to explore, looking for various objects and items that can create light such as flashlights, flares, matches or anything else lying around. Because as darkness falls the creatures begin to appear.
These enemies include Strangers, Orphans, Wraiths, and The Tortured, they each come with different strengths and weakness, so just because the flashlight works on one enemy doesn’t mean it’ll work on another.
One feature that adds a surreal twist to the proceedings is that Grave VR is procedurally generated, so as players move between areas, if they get into trouble and want to head back to a building or campfire they may have found, it won’t necessarily be there.
The videogame is going to feature a four act story mode as well as four different survival mode sections, Broken Window Studios has told VRFocus, and while this launch is just for HTC Vive, support for other headsets is planned.
VRFocus will continue its coverage of Grave VR and Broken Window Studios, reporting back with any new announcements.
