It was only last week that Bandit Six developer Climax Studios announced its third virtual reality (VR) title for Samsung Gear VR, Gun Sight. A side scrolling shooter, Gun Sight has now launched today for the mobile head-mounted display (HMD).
Gun Sight is a homage to classic videogames like Metal Slug and Contra, with some 80s themed music thrown in for good measure. Players take on the role of Colonel Jack ‘Knife’ Devers, last of the infamous War Dogs, waging a one-man crusade to save the solar system from hordes of relentless robots.
The title goes for a cel-shaded artwork style, similar to Climax Studios previous VR videogames Bandit Six and Bandit Six: Salvo. Gun Sight’s campaign takes place across 13 single-player missions set across 5 worlds. There are four modes to play through: campaign, survival, extraction and hardcore, with four weapons to choose from that all use gaze based targeting.
To celebrate the launch of Gun Sight Climax Studios is offering Gear VR owners a limited time discount of 25 percent off. That drops the price from £4.99 GBP down to £3.99, but it’s only for the first week.
VRFocus will continue its coverage of Climax Studios, reporting back with any further VR announcements.
