Centennial Use VR To Showcase Real Estate Developments

It can be difficult to properly visualise what a development property will look and feel like once it is complete. One of the biggest owner of shopping center properties in the USA is using virtual reality (VR) to showcase what some of its up-and-coming new developments will look like upon completion.

Centennial is a major owner of shopping centres and entertainment destinations in the USA, and the company will be using VR for its exhibit at the ICSC RECon Real Estate Convention in Las Vegas.

RECon is billed at the world’s largest real estate convention, and during the event Centennial will be demonstrating two immersive 360-degree VR renderings of developments. The first will use the HTC Vive Pro to offer users a series of interactive waypoints that let users view the property from multiple perspectives as if they were inside the completed development.
The second VR experience on offer will use a more portable mobile VR device, such as a Google Cardboard, to show attendees a 3D panoramic walkthrough of what selected Centennial properties will look like, using attendees own smartphones.
“With our development projects, we are shaping a new retail experience for a diverse, modern consumer who desires a meaningful connection with the place they go shopping and socialize,” says CEO Steven Levin. “By using the latest VR technology, we help retailers visualize this new experience as part of Centennial’s exciting growth plans by immersing them into space, and we’re extremely pleased about that.”
The three properties featured in the VR experience will be MainPlace Mall in Santa Ana, CA, Fox Valley Mall in Aurora, IL, and Hawthorn Mall in Vernon Hills, IL. The 3D VR animations will allow retailers and business partners to get a look at the properties and decide if they wish to invest.

The ICSC RECon Real Estate Convention will be held from 20th-23rd May, 2018 at the Las Vegas Convention Centre. Centennial’s VR experience will be available at Booth #N2332V.
